Ed Comeau Honored with the CFSI/IFSTA Dr. Anne W. Phillips Award for Leadership in Fire Safety Education

Mr. Ed Comeau, the leading national advocate for campus fire safety, was presented the CFSI/IFSTA Dr. Anne W. Phillips Award for Leadership in Fire Safety Education. The presentation took place during the CFSI National Advisory Committee virtual meeting on October 2nd attended by over 30 national fire and emergency services leaders.
Comeau’s many contributions to public safety include the publication of Campus Firewatch, which he started in 1999. The electronic newsletter continues to raise national awareness about fire safety on college campuses. In 2003, he established the Center for Campus Fire Safety, a nonprofit organization that focuses on initiatives to decrease fire deaths on college campuses. Last month, Comeau was instrumental in the passage of a Senate resolution designating the month of September 2020 as “Campus Fire Safety Month, a measure cosponsored by Fire Caucus Co-Chairs Senator Susan Collins (ME) and Senator Tom Carper (DE).
